Rey Mysterio has been confirmed as the cover athlete for WWE 2K22, which will mark the first release from the franchise in two years.

A veteran with over 30 years of experience in the ring, Mysterio is one of the most iconic Luchador wrestlers in the world, with multiple title wins – including the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship – under his belt. He also made history in 2021 with son Dominik Mysterio, as they became the first-ever father-son team to win a Tag Team Championship in WWE.

Along with the announcement of Mysterio as the cover athlete, developer Visual Concepts also gave fans a look at what they can expect to see when the game launches on March 11. A new trailer showcased in-ring action with a mix of the current roster, including Drew McIntyre, current Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair and legends including “Macho Man” Randy Savage and The Undertaker.

Also confirmed in the trailer was the MyGM Mode, in which players will step into the role of General Manager. In this new mode, players will be able to choose their rosters, make matches and manage the day to day running of their chosen brand within WWE.

There will also be four editions of the game available at launch: the Standard Edition, the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle, a Deluxe Edition, and the New World Order 4 Life Digital Edition. Players who pre-order any edition will receive the Undertaker Immortal Pack, featuring three of The Undertaker’s most iconic looks.

WWE 2K22 is available to pre-order now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 for both digital and physical formats and on Xbox Series S and PC for digital formats only.
