All-female Irish trio Wyvern Lingo formed in the Bray music scene of their home country, the same scene that the much-loved Hozier came from to catapult himself to international success. Thanks to this, this talented threesome have their links with the charming Irishman; band member Karen Cowley leant her vocals to his track ‘In A Week’, and the group supported him on his recent UK tour.

It’s impossible to deny the Irish roots in ‘The Widow Knows’, but they are exactly the elements that make the track so beautiful. Violins and acoustic guitar melodies accompany the girls’ hauntingly beautiful harmonies, which initially open the track in striking acapella, as the song builds to a heavy, foot tapping beat and a swell of melodic harmony.
‘The Widow Knows’ is a song about strength, and lyrics like “Dark days and lonely nights / your strength will come with the morning light” are echoed with the vigour of the track as a whole. Keep your eyes and ears open for these girls as with tracks like this, they’re set to hit the big time very soon indeed.
