Renowned immersive theatre company Punchdrunk are launching a new show in 2022 titled The Burnt City.
Based on the tragic fall of Troy, Greek mythology and set in a futuristic parallel world, this interactive theatre experience is set across three Grade-II listed warehouses in London. Each building will represent a different location: one will be the streets of Troy, another the world of Greece. Audiences will be able to explore every level of the buildings by literally following the actors through the set and walking through the city, apartment blocks, cafes and courtyards.
At the helm of creative production is Colin Nightingale, while David Israel Reynoso covers costume design. Lighting will be provided by FragmentNine and sound design will be done by Stephen Dobbie.
This unique show will take place from 22 March to 28 August 2022 with a cast of 30 performers directed by Felix Barrett and Maxine Doyle. Known for adapting classics such as Woyzeck to The Drowned Man for one of a kind interactive plays, Punchdrunk have set the standard for large-scale immersive experiences. The Burnt City has been confirmed by the directors to be the company’s most expensive project to date due to the sheer scale of the production.
Tickets can be purchased through Punchdrunk’s website. The company recommend that participants experience the performance alone in order to get the most from it.
