Track Review: Solar // Haize

As the summer weather is rapidly disappearing, songs which bring back memories of sunnier times are tremendously comforting. ‘Solar’ is a light and tranquil track from Reading-based band Haize. The song is led by beautiful guitar melodies which explode into life as the chorus is reached, reminiscent of some of Two Door Cinema Club’s more recent work.

Somewhat ingeniously, the song is both upbeat and joyful whilst being soothing and peaceful. This effect is due to the euphoric vocals which float dreamily above the tune. The final time we hear the chorus it is at its most powerful and sonically stunning, and after this a spectacularly uplifting instrumental section brings the song to a sublime close.
