Four Cyberpunk 2077 Lawsuits Against CD Projekt Red Are To Be Consolidated into One Big Lawsuit

Four separate lawsuits against CD Projekt Red over Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch have been combined into one mega lawsuit by the court.

The developer gave an update on the ongoing suits in a blog post saying that “The court has consolidated the lawsuits and appointed a lead plaintiff. Following this consolidation, all four lawsuits will be subject to potential common court proceedings.”

Two of these lawsuits were well-documented in December 2020 and January 2021, being brought against the company by investors who claimed they had been misled regarding the playability of Cyberpunk 2077 on last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The other two lawsuits were not detailed in CD Projekt Red’s post. However, it can be presumed they are of similar nature, given they have been bundled together.

In January, CD Projekt Red said it would “take vigorous action to defend itself” shortly after the second lawsuit was brought against the studio, and few weeks after the initial lawsuit kicked things off.

After Cyberpunk 2077‘s failed launch on Xbox and PlayStation 4, the developer offered refunds to players, which it was recently revealed cost them over $51 million. But despite the rather rough launch, the game still managed to sell over 13 million copies worldwide.
