‘Doomsday’ is the newly-released single from British singer-songwriter Matilda Mann. The track, which is brought to life through a gorgeous acoustic rendition and a lyric video, follows her 5 track debut EP if that makes sense and her latest EP, Because I Wanted You To Know.
Like Mann’s previous releases, this track has an acoustic-folk sound to it, featuring soft vocals and gentle guitar that helps emphasise how this is a song about the little things in life and finding the good in it. Throughout the track, Mann’s soft folky tone guides the listener through her tender, almost romantic lyrics: “Let’s go out with a bang, I’m your number one fan / ‘Cause you, you make me complete / We’ll kiss as we weep”.
Describing the song, Mann explains: “‘Doomsday’ was written in December in lockdown. During that time, we really had to cling onto the small things in life, and sometimes it just felt like it was never going to get better.
“‘Doomsday’ was written to help people feel, that during the worst times, things are going to get better. We have each other and the small things that make life good.”
Following the release of her latest EP, ‘Doomsday’ amps up the buzz surrounding Mann and confirms she’s one to watch.
