Ahead of her debut album release if i could make it go quiet, girl in red dropped a new single, the emotional and energetic ‘You Stupid Bitch.’

Musically the track blends indie-pop and garage rock, through fuzzy guitars and energetic melodies. Its raw and grittier compared to the delicate sounds of her earlier releases, while still incorporating confessional lyrics. “You let the wrong people love you/but you don’t see that do you,” Ulven sings, voicing the painful frustration of unrequited love.

Expanding on the song’s message, she said: “I would drop everything just to be there for them. That person would never see me as anything else than just a friend, even though I feel like I could’ve made her so happy.

“The core essence of this track is like, I’m obviously here for you, and I want to be with you, but you keep messing around with other people, and you keep getting broken. It’s this really direct, straightforward track.”

Since creating girl in red in 2017, Norwegian singer-songwriter Marie Ulven has already found considerable success. ‘You Stupid Bitch,’ exemplifies Ulven’s popularity, with raw and honest music which resonates with her listeners.
