50 Cent Labels ‘8 Mile’ TV Show Adaption as “In Motion”

Curtis Hanson’s 8 Mile is considered to be something of a cult classic. It’s loosely based on the life and career of Eminem with the Missouri rapper starring as the lead. Scenes from the 2002 movie are still circulated on social media regularly.

50 Cent is another rapping heavyweight, but he also has exploits when it comes to the film and TV industry. 50, real name Curtis Jackson, is one of the producers of Power, which now has six seasons as well as a number of spin-offs. The musical duo are in the process of collaborating on a TV adaption of the film that, at the time, was the second highest-grossing R-Rated film in America on opening weekend.

It goes without saying that 50 is confident of what they’ve got on the way, saying the following. “I’m gonna bring his 8 Mile to television. We’re in motion. It’s gonna be big. I ain’t got no duds. I’m battin’ a hundred, I’m battin’ a hundred.” If Power is anything to go off, it surely will be big. Jackson himself stars in that hit show, alongside the likes of Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, and Joseph Sikora.

50 Cent also stated, “I think it should be there for his legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it.” Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers III, certainly has a legacy in place already having won 15 Grammys, as well as an Academy Award for “Lose Yourself” in 8 Mile. The duo haven’t been without their controversies, but this remains a hugely enticing project.

There is often talk about how a special, special thing can be ruined by overdoing it. The time between the 8 Mile film and this TV show that is “in motion” will work in its favour though, with fans of the concept hungry for more. Whilst there is no specific timeline being publicised, this is a step in the right direction for sure.
