VENUS GRRRLS
Riot grrrl-esque quintet VENUS GRRRLS – another Monomyth act – are a rock band by women, for women (and enby’s, too!); they’re promoting the participation, acknowledgment, and respect of women in the music industry. VENUS GRRRLS feel strongly about writing music on what’s important to them: “We’ve been through a lot as individuals and want nothing more than to share and be open about our experiences and feelings, in the hope that they might resonate with someone.” They are keen on making the industry a safe, and most importantly enjoyable, place for women.
With the confidence and energy these girls bring, you wouldn’t think they’d been releasing music since as little time ago as 2019, having only just released Wicked Things, their debut EP. The band – who have toured with the likes of All Time Low, BLOXX, and Anteros – use their electronic, alt-rock sound to bring forth the fortitude and activism they hope will help reshape the age-old preconceptions towards women in rock.
Their latest single, ‘Goth Girl,’ is being released on the 22nd Jan, and is perhaps their most highly anticipated release yet. Throughout 2021 VENUS want to provide as an escape for their fans in trying times, and “are keen to pay attention to the world as it unfolds and be vocal about the issues that need more light shed onto them. We’re always looking into how we can be better allies.”
