RAE

Ørmstons was a 4-piece indie-pop band that built up quite a fanbase and supported the likes of Anteros and Ten Tonnes – but then they decided it was time for a refurb at the start of 2020, and thus RAE was born. Old fans followed to support the band on this new endeavour and within weeks of their unveiling, shows had been played and a UK tour was planned for March and April. This, obviously, couldn’t go ahead as a result of the first national lockdown, and it meant studio time was limited.

Their first year wasn’t quite going to plan, but RAE continued putting in the hours and the hard work where they could, which allowed them to finally release their debut single ‘Never Meant To Start A Witch Hunt‘ in June. Apart from being a bad-ass frontwoman, Jess Huxham is also a photographer and so she shot the artwork herself, turning parts of her home into a studio and completely improvising.

RAE have stayed constantly optimistic, posting on Instagram “to say we’ve only been kicking about for a year with one song out and us doing a grand total of 3 gigs, we’ve not had a bad year at all,” and are excited for the new year and what it might bring.
