1. Pastel

At the heart of Swansea’s music scene, our favourite for 2021 has to be the psychedelic rock band Pastel. After recruiting new lead guitarist Joe Anderson and securing a record deal with Spirit of Spike Island, these boys are actively using the pandemic to become bigger and better. Earlier this month the band posted on Instagram that they have been in the studio mixing an upcoming EP, leaving fans to imagine the vibrant tunes they have been cooking up. Endorsed on Twitter by iconic Shoegaze pioneer Andy Bell, from Oasis and Ride, Pastel have some impressive names behind them. With a largely sold-out tour lined up for September with Afflecks Palace, attending a Pastel gig now is like watching The Verve perform in 1996–huge things are on its way for this band.
