5 Great Songs You’ve (Probably) Never Heard

The Bikes & The Basement // Nai Harvest

A true Nai Harvest rarity, ‘The Bikes & The Basement’ may just be one of their best songs, period. The tune first appeared on the Feeling Better EP, but as many die-hard Nai Harvest fans will already know, the band no longer play any of their older material live, and that includes the entirety of debut album Whatever, which perhaps explains why this song isn’t as well likedĀ as it rightfully should be. In comparison to their latest release, the wonderfully lo fi ‘fuzz pop’ album Hairball, this track perfectly demonstrates Nai Harvest’s emo roots.

It’s full of heartbreakingly raw emotion, the lyrics telling the tale of a disintegrating relationship. “Still time to fuck it up / like we always do / I remember you telling me once or twice to stop it / but I got too invested”, yells singer and guitarist Ben Thompson, before proclaiming, rather bitterly, “you told me to stop it / and I’m so glad I listened”.
