The only band on this list that isn’t from down under, Small Faces launched their first album in 1967, and then just a year later in May 1968, they released their most popular album, Ogden’s nut gone flake. Taken from this fantastic concept album, the title instrumental track is a shining example of what a great producer can do to a fantastic song.
From the electric piano leading the song and setting the baseline, to the slight orchestral accompaniment during the chorus, Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake is a joy to listen to from start to finish.
Almost 50 years old and the entire album still sounds fresh, if a bit strange. Definitely check out this track, and if you have the time give the album a listen. It’s definitely worth it.
