Break My Heart’ – ‘Need You Tonight’

Sometimes, sampling a few seconds of an older song is all an artist needs. In Dua Lipa’s case, using four seconds of INXS’s 1987 hit ‘Need You Tonight’ was enough to land her a top ten spot in the UK charts with ‘Break My Heart’. The original by INXS was featured in the 2012 M&S Christmas advert, forgotten until Lipa brought the well-known guitar riff back to life earlier this year. 

The London-based pop singer has used this song as one of the lead singles off her new album Future Nostalgia, an album with a neon-pop disco theme.
