3. Honeyblood
At the end of last year I went to see Catfish and the Bottlemen at The Plug in Sheffield, and what a surprise it was that Honeyblood were the support act. It’s hard to not instantly fall head over heels for the lo-fi guitar riffs that make up the basis of their sound. The duo consists of Stina Tweeddale on guitar and Cat Myers on drums. Despite having only two members, Honeyblood’s sound is thick, guitar heavy, and surprisingly filled out. Stina Tweeddale is the primary songwriter, and with lyrics that go from “every rose tinted sky / reminds me of you and I” to “I will hate you forever / scumbag, sleaze, slime ball grease / you really do disgust me” Honeyblood are a band for every kind of person.
