Catfish & the Bottlemen

catfish-3-1024x604

Having risen to prominence over the last year or so, and playing a variety of festivals this summer, Catfish are both one of the biggest and newest names Latitude has to offer. They’re playing the 6Music stage on Saturday night, just before The Vaccines finish the night.

In fact, they make up just one part of a wholly impressive 6Music lineup this year, showing a significant improvement on the BBC’s effort in 2014. I, for one, will be staying there for the duration of Saturday night, wondering why on Earth it wasn’t Catfish or the Vaccines with the big slot held by Portishead.

Catfish’s sound is a combination of radio-friendly soft indie, and a more rocky infusion. Listen to the oft-played ‘Kathleen’ to recognise them instantly, or the more mellow ‘Fallout’ for a great track. What’s more, they only have one album so the set list is at least guessable.
