One of the great delights of Latitude is that it manages to spot upcoming talent in the singer-songwriter genre and provide a platform for their music to spread. This is, in essence, the function of a music festival, no matter what the all-star lineups of events like Reading and Leeds and V Festival might make you think.

One such local talent is Oliver Daldry. I first saw him play the Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds, as part of a singer-songwriter promotion evening called The Living Room. Since then, Latitude could be called his big break, along with having his music featured on an AirBnB advert last month. To move from an audience of twenty to potentially thousands is a fantastic opportunity. Laura Marling famously played Latitude in 2012 to widespread critical acclaim, and returns this year as a headliner. We should expect great things from Suffolk boy Oliver.

See him at the Alcove Stage between 1400-1430 on Friday.
