Arcade Fire
The Montreal collective are undoubtedly the biggest headline name at this year’s festival, and with Bilbao featuring alongside only one other European show on the band’s schedule for this summer, their show on the 7th of July is set to be one of the highlights of the festival season. Win, Will and the rest of the band recently announced that they’ve started work on their fifth studio album, and while this news surely had fans around the world wriggling with immutable, giddy excitement, what’s sure to excite them just as much is the possibility – granted a very remote one – of seeing some new live material before they disappear to record their latest work. Whether their slot this July features some new material or not, the magnitude of this appearance is palpable, and represents how far the festival has come in its tenure, and how far its star is continuing to rise.
