2. Ant-Man

Now I know what you’re thinking, Ant-Man isn’t even out yet. But these are films ‘to watch’, so when it does come out in cinemas on 17th July, this is why you should see it. Ant-Man was originally going to be directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Hot Fuzz etc.) in fact he even wrote the first draft of the script. This is very important, meaning that Ant-Man was always supposed to be a comedy film, it’s be rewritten at least 3/4 times by other comedic directors such as Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), Adam McKay (Anchorman) & even the Ant-Man himself Paul Rudd, who’s been starring in comedy films since I could remember. Of course the superhero action will be present but Ant-Man isn’t going to be a film that takes itself too seriously. So if you’re laughing at the idea of man who can turn into the size of an Ant, don’t worry. Everyone in the film is laughing at it with you.

The powers Ant-Man posses plus Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) character and the comedic aspect means this is going to be wildly different from your average Marvel movie. If you were thinking about avoiding Ant-Man in cinemas this summer, think again. You might be surprised at how believing in a man who turns into an Ant will completely take your mind off your results.
