2. Tenacious D – Pick of Destiny

Grohl met Tenacious D at a show at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, where he told Jack Black and Kyle Gass that he was impressed by their performance. This ultimately led to their memorable cameo in Foo Fighters ‘Learn to Fly’ video, and their popularity as an actual band (rather than just being solely based on television) led to the creation of their first album, Tenacious D.

Grohl has been the drummer of the band since the first albums release, and has also starred in as Satan in both the music video for ‘Tribute’, and the film ‘Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny’. The film told the story of the bands fictitious origins and their journey of finding a guitar pick that belonged to Satan to become rock legends. The film was a box office bomb, but has become a cult classic – especially within the rock community.
