7. Garbage – Bad Boyfriend

When your favourite musician and one of your favourite bands collaborate, it’s a match made in heaven. Especially when that match helped motivate the band to finish an album, which is ultimately what Grohl’s contribution to Garbage’s album ‘Bleed Like Me’ on the opening track ‘Bad Boyfriend’ did.

Grohl has been close friends with Butch Vig (the drummer of Garbage) since the early 90s, as he produced Nirvana’s seminal album, Nevermind. He also subsequently became producer for two Foo Fighters records, Wasting Light and Sonic Highways.

However, Vig was struggling with the drum track on ‘Bad Boyfriend’, so offered the drum track to Grohl whilst bumping into him at a party. His participation raised the bar for the band, pushed them and gave them inspiration to create the best record that they could produce.
