Although this song hasn’t had an official release, it’s definitely one of the best break up songs out there, and after a few listens of the unsympathetic ‘Birth Certificate’ this song will make your wounds feel more than soothed. The lyrics show the uncertainty of love, and how easy it is for one party to change their mind and leave the other stranded. Blossoms successfully use bittersweet melodies layered upon nostalgic lyrics to create a song that’s as comforting as it is melancholy. When I went to see the band in May, Tom Ogden, the lead singer of the group, introduced this song by declaring, “this is for anyone who’s just been dumped” – and rightly so.
