With the major festivals pulling out less than appealing line ups, the smaller events have had to up their game. Field Day have set the bar high with the quality and depth within its roster this year.
With gargantuan acts such as Ride, Caribou, Savages, The Horrors and Pixies gracing their stages in the past few years, the organisers have had a monumental task of delivering the goods again this year. But they’ve done so in style. Here’s a quick guide to 10 of the acts that you can’t afford to miss at this year’s festival.
James Blake
Anticipation was high when the news broke that James Blake’s follow up to his critically acclaimed and Mercury Prize winning second album ‘Overgrown’ was to be released this year. The hype was well justified, because out of nowhere on May 6th his third album ‘The Colour in Everything’ was released and instantly became a candidate for album of the year. From being holed up in his London bedroom producing piano samples, to working in LA with world famous producer Rick Rubin and hide and seek champion Frank Ocean, its been a huge rise for Blake. You’d be a fool to miss Blake bring his slow-burining, heartfelt dance anthems to close out the Main Stage for the awe struck Victoria Park Crowd.
