Genshin Impact will receive a brand-new 6.0 update, announced during a livestream. The update, nicknamed ‘Luna I’, will mark the start of the ‘Song of the Welkin Moon’ questline. The patch will introduce players to the region of Nod Krai, featuring three new playable characters. Players will get to know the latest additions: Flins, Lauma, and Aino (a free character), via their roles in the main questline.
Flins is an Electro-wielder and member of the ‘Lightkeepers’, guardian of a lighthouse and a graveyard on the northern isle. Lauma serves as a Dendro-wielder and envoy of the ‘Frostmoon Scions’, she is a wise and well-respected figure. Aino is a Hydro-wielder and child prodigy, she created Ineffa and various other machinery.
Their banners will run in 6.0, alongside some familiar faces and weapons:
Phase I (10 September – 30 September)
- Moonsong of the Groves (Lauma)
- The Moongrass’ Enlightenment (Nahida)
Chronicled Wish
- Characters: Dehya, Alhaitham, Wanderer, Cyno, Nilou, Tighnari
- Weapons: Light of Foliar Incision, Key of Khaj-Nisut, Beacon of the Reed Sea, Staff of the Scarlet Sands, Tulaytullah’s Remembrance, Hunter’s Path

Furthermore, we learnt more about Nod Krai, a former wasteland that lies on the edge of Teyvat. The Abyss brought the region to ruins, it was then rebuilt by merchants. This led to the creation of Nasha Town, where players will begin. The region is filled with a moon-based elemental energy known as kuuvahki, which certain characters can wield.
Changes were also announced to the level-up system, with the cap now being raised from level 90 to level 100. This is achieved through the use of a new item, the ‘Masterless Stellar Fortuna’. Players will also be able to get a free regular ‘Stellar Fortuna’ by participating in a new event, ‘To Temper Thyself and Journey Far’.
The livestream revealed more information about the Fatui Harbinger Columbina, also known as the Damselette. Hiding in Nod Krai, Columbina originates from the region, having once been worshipped as a moon deity. Statues of her are present in new areas such as Nasha Town and Hiisii Island, sculpted in the image of her past self. For reasons unknown, she has abandoned her role as a Fatui Harbinger and returned to her homeland.
Genshin Impact will celebrate its fifth anniversary on 28 September. To celebrate, players will receive a gift of 1600 primogems via their in-game mailbox. Alongside this, they will receive a robot kitten pet and various enhancement materials. Players will also be able to pick a standard five-star character of their choice, including the recently released Yumemizuki Mizuki.
Version 6.0 of Genshin Impact will be released on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, on Xbox, PS5, PC, and Mobile Devices.
